Welcome to the Men's Stag Night 2018 Season

May 15, 2018 | Posted by Jeff Roy

As I was making my usually slow Crab crawl exit this past Wednesday and I witnessed a truly amazing site. There seated around a collection of tables was a less than distinguished group of questionable team captains.  Who had as their main objective the establishment of fair and equitable teams for the 2018 Stag Night season. Now, it could be said that these gentlemen were suffering from “slow-start-to-season-idis” A newly invented medical condition which generally is applied to the suffering once a golfing season falls more than 3 weeks behind schedule. We barely escaped this condition from becoming a chronic condition. It was counter acted by the consumption of several known quantities of adult beverages. A prescription most participants are willing to take without the slightest objection.

Now no one could argue (since they did enough of it for everyone last Wednesday picking teams) that the collection assembled accomplished their objective, which was to evenly disperse the golfing talent among the said name teams. And there is plenty of talent to go around that is for sure. Someone once witnessed a Stag Night participant walk a straight line through the bush and find his ball that he had just deposited in the pond on #3 on the Serpent. What really made it extraordinary was he was found finishing #9 on the Fox. Now that takes talent!

Can there be a better place to shed our daily grind and grime then Wednesday night by sloshing through 9 holes of golf coupled with great food, cold drinks and the most accommodating staff ever assembled! I say nay, there is no better place.

It is up to us who are the brave to continue this tradition of Wednesday Stag Night. It takes courage and real down to earth fortitude to stand upright at the conclusion of each Stag Night and declare our solemn declaration to do it all over again in another 7 days. Especially when our poor performance has relegated oneself to the purgatory of shame, known affectionately as the “Useless Bastards.”

Let us all golf on!
