Playoffs?!? You Talkin' Bout Playoffs???

     You heard the man... It's time to grow your beards cause we're headin’ to the Post Season!  How does it all work, you ask?  Well, this nifty Q & A that should explain it perfectly;

League Playoffs  -  Q & A

Q: What is the format?

A: The format of our Playoffs is similar to the FedExCup format, yet is still accompanied by the participation points.  Simply stated, each team competes against the other teams for a piece of the weekly purse, which is represented by points.  The lower your team's score, the more points your team will earn for that particular week.

Q: What happens to the points my team earned during the regular season?

A: Teams will start the playoffs with the same number of points they accumulated during the Regular Season.

Q: How are the points distributed during the playoffs?

1st...   29 Points

2nd...  26 Points

3rd...   23 Points

4th...   20 Points

5th...   17 Points

6th...   14 Points

7th...   11 Points

8th..      8 Points

9th...     5 Points

10th..    2 Points

*  IMPORTANT: The points will increase for each week of the playoffs

Q: Will participation still count?

A: Absolutely! Participation Points will be added to the Performance Points listed above.

Q: What does it all mean, man?

A: The team in 1st place at the conclusion of the Playoffs will be our Moosehead Men's League Champions!  A distinction that admittedly carries little weight out in the real world.  Beyond that, not a whole hell of a lot.

Q: How long will the playoffs run?

A: The playoffs will run for three weeks - Wednesday August 15th, Wednesday August 22nd and Wednesday August 29th.

That is all,

The Commissioner

One week til Playoffs start!

One more week before Playoffs begin and Graves wins big bunker pot!!

With one week left in the regular season, Team Hubbard has a small lead over Team Thompson and Team Myles. Both can surpass him next week if the starts align. After next week, the playoffs begins, which will run for 3 weeks and will be a FedEx Cup style event. Instead of Team vs Team, the teams will received points for the overall position they place each week. The points you accumulated over the regular season will carry over as well.

Each week the values go up by 25%. Good luck to all participants!

Also, Ryan Graves rolled in a 20 footer to win $540 last night on the bunker shot!! Congrats Ryan!

Nothing fancy last night in league play. Mike Byrne is hot right now with two above average performances in a row from him. Paul Chase finds the net prize column again and Mike Thompson overcomes injury from an errant ball to win low net!

Here are the standings after week 10.

6 Team Horse Race with 2 weeks to go!

Before we start on week 8's happenings, we have a special presentation for you.

Below we have a local street "artist" interpretation of the celebratory dance our very own Richard Alderman made when he got his Hole in One during last weeks play on the 6th hole!

Sweet Moves Rich!!

Week 8 had its fair share of excitement as well. First we saw Team Graham take down Team Hubbard in convincing fashion, no thanks to club pro and Team Graham member Steve Leblanc, who was was off site catching a last minute fashion show of the 2 undr 2019 collection. This win, along with Team Myles and Team Buckley's wins put first place up for grabs among 6 teams!

Week 8 also provided a break through for one of the biggest range rats at Westfield, Andy Fox. Who finally realised that if you follow through and not stop your club at the ball, it may go in the direction intended. Ground breaking stuff Andy, and by doing so, he carded his lowest mens night round in the 4 year history of the event, with a 42, net 29!  Well done Andy!!

Here are the standings after week 8.

Some fun facts

GRAND BAY - WESTFIELD — According to a study published this week by the PGA of Atlantic Canada, the average person’s plan to improve their golf game is only capable of withstanding 25 seconds of honest, direct questioning before falling apart. “While most individuals’ plans hold together for the first few moments of explanation, we found that by the 20- or 30-second mark, people typically begin trailing off into ambiguity, equivocation, or flat-out silence,” said the study’s lead author, Steve Leblanc of WEstfield Golf & CC, adding that most students hit an impassable roadblock after being asked “how are you going to pay for that?”  “In about 38 percent of cases, it appeared students’ aspirations had been subject to so little critical inquiry that the simple exercise of explaining the first step of their plan aloud — be it to cure a slice, hit it farther, or simply to learn some golf etiquette — caused the entire thing to unravel right before their eyes in a period of no more than six or eight seconds.”  Leblanc noted that even after talking themselves into a corner and finding themselves wholly unable to explain how they would achieve their plans, nearly 100 percent of the subjects still expressed confidence they would succeed.

With only 2 weeks of regular season, Team Hubbard has a commandinglead, with only Team Roberts and Thompson able to catch him for first.

There is a 7 way battle for last as well!!
