Welcome to the Moosehead Men's League 2017 Season

Last night of the temps!

Jun 22, 2017 | Posted by The Commissioner

On this sunny first day of summer, 99 men gathered to see which teams would remain undefeated and which would remain in the gutter of depth and despair. Although the weather network did all they could to scare us from getting our 9 holes in, with doomsday looking radar predictions, in the end Mother Nature decided to finally have some mercy on the men of Westfield for a brief moment this season. It ended up being a beautiful night.

At the moment 3 teams remain undefeated. Team Buckley, McCarthy and Thompson, while 3 teams go back to the drawing board and have to do some soul searching. Team Earle, Graham and Roberts and still O-for.

Team Buckley laid a ruthless beating on Team Graham (263-244)

Led by their captain Mike Buckley who was even par and the rumored illigetimate child of Head Professional Steve Leblanc, Mike Leblanc was 35 as well. Those combined with some solid net scores from Terry Cunningham (33), who seemed to have found his swing from the lost and found , R.A Dickey look-a-like Paul Hickey (33) and Stan "Karate Chop" Ptasznik's 34.

Team Graham had 1 good gross score in Don Roberts 36 and they may of won if they could of used Terry Totten's net score, but his 41 was needed on the gross side and mathematically screwed the team. #1 Riptide fan, Mike Theriault was 33 net in the losing cause.

Team Hubbard nipped Team Earle by 1 stroke (248-249)

We could all see the anguish as Team Earle members realised they lost by 1 point and then watch them mentally beat themselves up over the 2 footer they all missed.

Matt Mason, who turned 19 on opening day last week, finally recovered from his week long binge and shot an impressive 36. The Bish, Tom Bishop also continued his strong play with a 38 for team Hubbard. Smooth swinging Andy Fox overcame the mental demons to shoot 34 net, along with captain Hubbard who is desperately searching for a putting stroke in time for the weekend.

Team Earle were led by 2016 Club Champ Nick with a 35. He played very late in the day when the wind was gone and the conditions were so so so much easier than when most of the field played. But whatever, nice 35.

League rookie Ed Arsenault made an early statement with a 33 net, along with fancy new shoes Art Macdougall.

Team Thompson's prayers were answered and they beat Team Leblanc by 2 (253-255)

#1 pick Wade Hunter recovered nicely from his nervous first start last week with a 1 over 36. Matt Ross, who's better half is the new beer contest girl on #6 and beverage cart staff, Shannon, was 33 net. Just a fair warning boys, she's taken...by a sand bagger.

Captain Thompson was a useless bastard for the record.

Team Leblanc's story was not much better. Bob Keeffe pulled his weight with a 38 gross and Keith McGovern played great with a 34 net. But our Head Professional played like he had two hockey gloves on, and let his team down.

Team McCarthy slapped around Team Savoy (245-257)

Team McCarthy's amazing second round pick, Ryan Spencer, put a pizza in the oven, then casually came out and shot the nights low round of 33, and got back in time to enjoy a perfectly crafted Domino's Pizza! (West Side, amazing deals!!)

Captain McCarthy, hot off his NB Four Ball win last week, shot an acceptable 37 as well to lead his team to victory. Matt "The Rain maker" Leger, lead the net side with 33.

Team Savoy, feeling good after their first win in two years last week, came up short. With their two best gross scores being 40's from captain Savoy and The Rock, Reggie "I walk now brother: Williams and Walter Foster were the only shining light from the team with a couple 34 net.

Team Myles barely got by Team Roberts (248-253)

Team Myles got their first win of the season as Braden Duffley, who was seen walking off the course mid round in disgust the day before, pulled himself together and shot 37 gross. Bob Fellows, who was lucky man of the night, was 38 gross to go along with his victorious bunker shot that got him $95 smackeroos.  Doug "I never met a rule I liked" Myles was a solid 33 net, Steve "Angel Eyes" Foldi and Gary "new knees" Limkilde were 34 net.

Team Roberts were grinding hard for their first W of the season, but it was not meant to be. Neil matched his NB Four Ball Champ partner's score of 37 gross. Sean "Black Horse" McCullough was 34 net and Doug "Best Westfield Mustache 2008" Buckey was also 34 net.
