Playoffs?!? You Talkin' Bout Playoffs???

     You heard the man... It's time to grow your beards cause we're headin’ to the Post Season!  How does it all work, you ask?  Well, to that end, I've taken the time to prepare this nifty Q & A that should explain it perfectly;

League Playoffs  -  Q & A

Q: What is the format?

A: The format of our Playoffs is similar to the FedExCup format, yet is still accompanied by the participation points.  Simply stated, each team competes against the other teams for a piece of the weekly purse, which is represented by points.  The lower your team's score, the more points your team will earn for that particular week.


Q: What happens to the points my team earned during the regular season?

A: Teams will start the playoffs with the same number of points they accumulated during the Regular Season.


Q: How are the points distributed during the playoffs?

1st...      20 Points

2nd...     15 Points  

3rd...      10 Points  

4th...        5 Points

*  IMPORTANT: The points will increase for each week of the playoffs


Q: Will participation still count?

A: Absolutely! Participation Points will be added to the Performance Points listed above.


Q: What does it all mean, man?

A: The team in 1st place at the conclusion of the Playoffs will be our League Champions!  A distinction that admittedly carries little weight out in the real world.  Beyond that, not a whole hell of a lot.


Q: How long will the playoffs run?

A: The playoffs will run for two weeks - Wednesday September 28th, Wednesday October 5th and Wednesday October 12th.

2016 O.C. Men's League

     Welcome to the NEW Otter Creek Golf Club's The O.C. Men's League Website!  We are excited to announce we’ll be using a new online scoring system specifically designed for our league.  Thanks to this unique web based program players can track their individual and team performance, and we now have the ability to display live scoring on the club TV's!

     The idea behind the program is simple... the more you play - the better it is for you and your team.  Our goal is to have a minimum of 32 participants this year - 4 teams with 8 players on each team but we'll adjust that based on the sign-up.  Important: The teams are for scoring purposes only.  You are welcome to play with whomever you please on a league day.  We're excited about this new format and with your help we know it'll be great.   


     For the regular season, teams will play head-to-head matches in a round-robin format with the winners of each weekly match earning 10 points, 5 points per team if there is a tie and 0 for teams that lose. But, and this is important – participation is a big part of this format  – teams receive 1 point for each participant who posts a score as long as they reach the minimum number of players required (4).  A team score will be determined by the total of four (4) net scores posted by the team.  Players that don't count toward the team total can almost assuredly count on being singled out and suitably labeled on both the TV and this very website.  They will, however, earn a valuable participation point and, of course, they can always step it up and count the following week. 

     One of the hi-lights of the program is the actual real-time scoring.  As the Pro Shop staff enter the individual scores, the standings, individual performances (good/bad) and team information is updated in real-time on the Internet.  Guys who can’t make it or those stranded at the office until later in the day can log onto the league website to see how their team is doing.  Another bonus is the program actually maintains a separate league handicap so you can stop worrying because each team will be balanced with an equal number of liars, lowlifes, sandbaggers and cheats!  Handicaps are automatically updated and applied based solely on your league scores.  That, my friends, is pretty good.

       To really make this work we need four (4) enthusiastic, if not competent people to act as captains for the 2016 season.  Prospective Captains can rest easy - the skills required to head up a team are few – we’d like you to play on a regular basis and, because success in this format relies heavily on participation, you’ll want to rally the "troops".  If you would like to help us out by acting as a team captain please send me an email (rbooker@ottercreekgolfclub.com).  This has the potential to be a lot of fun so please, let's get everyone on board this season.
