Welcome to the Tuesday Senior Men's League 2019 Season

Icebreaker Recap

Apr 16, 2019 | Posted by Andrew

Hello Gentlemen,

Thank you for everyone that attended the Icebreaker Banquet, it was great to see everyone there. This post will provide all relevant information covered at the Icebreaker. If you have any questions at all, please email us at leagues@manderleygolf.com.

Manderley’s Tuesday Seniors League takes place every Tuesday for the next 23 weeks. The league starts each Tuesday with an 8:30am shotgun start. Manderley on the Green is a 27-hole golf course that originally opened as an eighteen holf course in 1964. The third nine was built in 2003 and most recently, the golf course was purchased by Groupe Fortin, who also own Mont Cascades and Tecumseh golf clubs. This new ownership will only enhance what is offered for golfers, with enhancements being made to the clubhouse and course conditions.

The golf course will be opening for the season this coming Thursday, April 25th. Due to this, our first scheduled game of golf will be played on Tuesday, April 30th.

Phil Martin will be your official league coordinator for the season. He will be your contact for any and all league needs, and I can assure you that he is dedicated to making the league as enjoyable as possible for everyone involved. Phil can be reached anytime by email at leagues@manderleygolf.com. Phil will be looking after the prizes on a weekly basis and the weekly starting list that will be shared ahead of each golf game.

This weekly starting list will show the groups for that week, as well as the starting hole for your group. With our starting format being a shotgun start, everyone will be put into a group and assigned a starting hole so that we can all start at the same time. Each week we will begin golf with an 8:30am shotgun start, however it may be necessary to start later depending on early morning temperatures in the spring and fall. The starting list for each week will be posted on Monday afternoon’s on this dedicated league website, which is available at: http://www1.golfscoring.net/manderley/seniors/2019.

To keep things simple, we will assume that everyone will be joining us for golf each week. If you are unable to make golf for a particular day, we would just ask you to send us an email to leagues@manderleygolf.com or give us a call at 613-489-2092. Also, if you would like to play with any other gentlemen in the league for a particular week or on a regular basis, we would also ask for an email to be sent to the same address, which is leagues@manderleygolf.com.

Each week, we would ask that everyone arrive to the course no later than 15 minutes before our start time, which will allow us to get out onto the course on time. Upon arrival to the course, we would ask that you check in with the pro shop, which will let us know who is here for golf that day. Before heading out onto the golf course, we will make announcements to let you know about any contests on the golf course, as well as the courses being played for that day. As we have 27 holes at Manderley, the courses being played each week will change on a weekly basis. This will provide playing variety throughout the season.

The course maintenance staff, led by Superintendent Dan Miron, will continue to work very hard to ensure the course is as enjoyable as possible for everyone for our opening Tuesday. We are very likely to have a cart rule of '90 degrees' on our first day, but it may be 'cart path only' on some or all of the holes. An update on this will be included with the starting list that posted on this website each Monday afternoon.

Each week we track scoring on one of the courses being played, which is our scoring nine. The nine being scored will be identified in the weekly post, as well as a reminder before heading out onto the golf course. Handicaps will be tracked in the golf league and will be updated throughout the season, which will allow us to arrive at net scores for everyone, which makes it a level-playing field. We also use a Modified Stableford scoring system, which provides points for each hole on a net basis. All of the handicap and scoring information will be available on the menu at the top of this page. The scoring system used can be seen below:

Attendance Point - 1 Point for Being Here!

Net Bogey - 1 Point

Net Par - 2 Points

Net Birdie - 3 Points

Net Eagle - 4 Points

Net Albatross or Lower - 5 Points & a High-Five!!!

We will also have league teams this season, which we will recognize with team prizes on a weekly basis. League teams are only used for scoring purposes and are not necessarily who you will be golfing with each week. League team signups will be done over the next few weeks. If you would like to be on a team with anyone in the league, please send us an email to leagues@manderleygolf.com. Based on requests, we will arrange everyone, including those that have not made a team request, onto a team of either 4 or 5 golfers.

After the golf game each week, we will get together upstairs in the clubhouse. We will have weekly draw prizes, as well as prizes for the contest holes from the golf course. It is our intent to start the post-game prizes 5 hours after the start time for that day. With this in mind, Pace of Play will be important on a weekly basis. We ask that everyone practice Ready Golf when it is safe and possible to do so. The intent is not to feel rushed on the golf course, but to be respectful of those around us and play in a reasonable amount of time. We hope to have everyone join us together in the clubhouse each week for lunch, rather than dinner….or breakfast! :)

We will also have a weekly pro shop draw available for purchase before and after the golf game, which raffles off 90% of the pool of money for a gift card to be spent in the pro shop. The remaining 10% accumulates each week and is applied to draw prizes at our year end banquet in September. Pro shop draw numbers can be purchased ahead of the golf game in the pro shop or after the golf game in the clubhouse.

In the clubhouse after golf, we will have menu specials available to order for lunch, and the bar upstairs will be open for refreshments. Weekly winners of our contests will be posted on our website, so if you are unable to join us after the golf game, you will be able to see if you won a prize at this site.

Two programs that were in place in the past included our VIP Program and our Mobile App. Both programs are currently being integrated with our new systems at the golf course and will be available within the next few weeks. All previous points from our VIP Program will also be available to use in the new system. For our new league players, the VIP Program allows you to collect points on purchases here at the golf course. These points can then be redeemed for golf and cart outside of the golf league. The idea with this program is to play even more golf! The mobile app is being redeveloped and the new app information will be shared as soon as it is available.

In summary, we are really looking forward to the upcoming season. We are committed to ensuring your league experience is fun and enjoyable, that is the most important thing. We encourage feedback and look forward to seeing everyone out on April 30th for our first game of golf. Happy Easter, have a great weekend!

Yours in Golf,

Andrew Robertson
