Welcome to the Men's League 2018 Season

Play-off Update

Aug 1, 2018 | Posted by Rick Porritt

The playoffs are not far off as the round robin play is scheduled to end on 9 August, which leaves five weeks for play-offs leading to the closing tournament on Saturday, 15 September (mark that date on your calendar).  The details for the closing tournament will be published at a later date, but the plan is for it to be a fun day, lots of prizes and no major competition.

As for the play-offs the format has been posted on the bulletin board at the club-house.  The details are:

> Teams will be divided into two divisions: A Division teams 1 through 6 and B Division 7-12 and their points from the round robin will be carried forward.

> Teams will compete in their own division in a medal play format, with the top four teams in each division  being awarded prize money each week and all teams being awarded some points (see table below) plus the normal participation points.  Low gross and low net will still be awarded each week in the three flights, as well as skins and closest to the pin sleeve of balls.

> Weather permitting the playoffs will be 5 weeks commencing 16 August to 13 September.

> At the end all teams will be put together for the final award of prize money, thus a team that scores well in the B Division could move up and overtake some of the A Division teams.  The final award of money for the season is: 1st place $400, 2nd $300, 3rd $200 and 4th $100.  All prize money, skins etc will be paid at the final tournament.

> Points for each week and prize money are shown in the table below:

I have also been approached by one team that has now been reduced to only seven players.  I plan to move a player to this team when the playoffs start to make the league more balanced, I will talk to anyone first before I move them.

Don't forget to see me tomorrow if I still owe you money from the first half of the season.

Good golfing....Rick Porritt
